RELATIONSHIP AND THE CHILD IN YOU

Relationships and emotions or feelings are inseparable.Take a moment and think of your greatest adult friend as a child.  What did this person do or say that made you take him/her as a friend? Perhaps your answer could be; He listened to you with all his being, and that made you feel valued. He respected you and that made you feel important, he cared for you and that made you feel loved and safe. He understood you and that made you open up to him. You played together, and that made you feel honored. He accepted you and welcomed you and that made you feel loved. He had time for you and that made you want to be with him. He called you by your name and that made you feel identified and connected. These are just examples, many others can be listed down....Now think of those adults who you had a bad relationship as a child... What did this person say or do that made brought a bad relationship. Write it down this it could be too personal.

SOME RELATIONSHIPS EXPERIENCES FROM SCRIPTURE
Mark 10:13-16 in this text, there are four main characters represented: Disciples, children, some people who brought children to Jesus, and Jesus himself.V13-16: And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But when Jesus saw it he was indignant and said to them, ’’Let the children come to me do not hinder them; for to such belongs the Kingdom of God. 15 Truly, l say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it’’. 16 And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them....
(a) If you were among the children taken to Jesus when the disciples rebuked them? What could you have felt? May be, rejected, unloved, disappointed, alone, ashamed, embarrassed, sad, unwelcome, useless, angry, afraid, insecure, a sense of hopelessness. These are negative emotions. Negative emotions or feelings expressed reflect negative relationships....
(b) Now let us think about the feelings the children could have expressed towards Jesus. V14 But when Jesus saw it he was indignant and said to them’’ Let the children come to me do not hinder them; for such is the Kingdom of heaven’’.The children may have felt, accepted, loved, welcomed, important, valued, respected. 16 And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.  In his arms they may have felt loved, appreciated, special, happy, protected, secure, hopeful, confident, and friendly, encouraged, comforted, healed.....
(c) The disciples’ response to children was creating a negative relationship while Jesus response was positive towards the children. Like the disciples it is easy to become judgmental and critical in the way we view and receive children or adults.Through our body language, tone of voice, words facial expression children, and adults can experience positive or negative relationships.  Body language speaks louder than words. Children especially can know if we love and care for them...We can build positive relationships with children and adults and bring emotional and physical healing. The Key to build positive relationship with others is through the divine love of God.....

1. Jesus expressed this love to the children and adults through a word of welcome and Compassionate heart. ‘’ Let the children come to me do not hinder them… In Mathew 11:28; ’’ Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and l will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. ’’We all love to hear affirming, and encouraging information....

2. He spent time with them as he met their needs. Mark10:16 He took time to minister to each child and he blessed them. Just being there for them is an important element of becoming close in relationships.  In Mark 6:30, 32: The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all they had done and taught. 32 And he said to them, ‘’ Come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest a while’’. For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a lonely place by themselves. 33 Now many  saw them going and knew them, and they ran there on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them.34 And as he went ashore, he saw a great throng and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

3. He served them as he meet their need. John 6:1:14…He healed those were diseased v2...And a multitude followed him because they had seen the signs which he did on those who were diseased. He fed them those who were hungry, v11 Jesus then took the loaves and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated, so also the fish as much as they wanted.

4. Jesus touched the children and adults also to show love and concern. Mark 10; 16: The act of laying hands on them was not only bringing comfort, security, but also physical and emotional healing.

5. Jesus gave and established an eternal relationship. We read in John 15:12, 13: My command is this; love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends. John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. In Romans 5:8, But God demonstrates his love for us in this: while we were still sinners Christ died for us..We can build positive relationships with children and adults by following Jesus example. Accepting others as Jesus would. If you were to summarize your past and present life, relationship what would that be? As a child in one word, and as an adult.Would you say you felt loved, valued, special, secure, appreciated, accepted? Or do you feel, you were rejected, trampled, Angry, a shamed a bused, unwanted…unloved, lonely…Our experience in relationships whether positive or negative has a lot to do with how we relate to others and to God.  You can face your future relationship through fellowship in Jesus.Mathew 22:37, Jesus replied: ‘’ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all mind, 38 This is first and greatest commandment.39, And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.John 13:35: A new commandment l give you, love one another As l have love you, so men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another’’.

Prayer : Help us lord to value relationships. Help us to forgive those who caused us pain while we were young or even now as adults and heal our hearts. Holy Spirit help us to be an example in loving others so that men will know we are your disciples.. Galatians 5:22; But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness , Faithfulness,23, Gentleness, Self Control, against such there is no law....Amen

Posted 7-27-12                WHICH ONE IS MORE VALUABLE THE GIFT OR THE GIVER?

JOHN 6:1-13.....Mathew 14:22.....Mark 6: 31-46
One day, huge crowd followed a very important person because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were sick. This person was from Nazareth and his name is JESUS. God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power. Everywhere he went the best book to read says, he went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.In my country Kenya we have different kinds of gatherings where you can find large crowds.Massive crowd gather for outdoor open air meetings to listen to the politicians or preachers of the Gospel. But that is not all sometimes, they gather to receive food donations or clothing or free medical treatment.Crowds are motivated to gather by different reasons and attitudes.
In this passage, the Bible says, the crowd had 5000, men besides women and children. This was a huge crowd following Jesus and his disciples.  They had seen him leave to go to a quiet place to rest with his disciples. But when Jesus saw them he was filled with deep concern for them. What do you think Jesus knew about the people in the crowd? Mar 6:34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. What do you think would happen if over 5000 sheep were left loose without a shepherd? Perhaps they would get lost, become thirsty and hungry, and even get sick, hurt by other animals or people or even die. Jesus has another name; his name is a good shepherd. We read in the Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.23:2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters.  23:3 He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; your rod and thy staff they comfort me. 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

A good shepherd loves his sheep, provides for their food, water, shelter and gives good health care. He knows them by name and gives them protection. He listens to their cry and comforts them as he spends time with them. He promised, ‘’I will never leave you and never forsake you’’. Jesus is different from other shepherds because he keeps his promise. When he saw the crowd following him, he did what he loves to do best. Show love and care to them. While up on the mountain sitting with his disciples, and when he saw the crowd coming towards him, John 6:5, he asked Philip, How shall we buy bread that these may eat? Why do you think he asked Philip how to get bread? John 6:6 He said this to test him for he himself knew what to do. John 6:8-9, one of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,‘’There is a lad here, who has five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?’’

Many times we walk by sight and not by faith. Jesus wants’ us to trust and believe that nothing, is impossible with God.  He wants us to walk by faith and not by sight. John 6:10 And Jesus said, ‘’Make the people sit down’’. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. John 6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they wanted.Just think, if you were among the people, what would you have thought about Jesus? The people had enough to eat and there was 12 baskets left over. The people in the crowd also had something to say about Jesus. John 6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, ‘’This is truly the prophet who is to come into the world’’.At fast they followed him because wanted to see miracles. After they experienced his love and care, they saw him one who can rule them and provide for their earthly needs as King. John 6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. We read from John 10:14 Jesus said, ‘’ I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known by my own.John 10:15 ‘’As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. John 10:16 ‘’And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they will hear my voice; and there will be one flock, and one shepherd.

So, which one is more valuable, the gift or the giver? Some people wanted to know what to do to be saved,Act 16:30 And he brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?16:31 So, they said, ‘’Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household’’Make a choice to believe in Jesus for who he is and also for what he has done for you. He is a good Shepherd. Trust in him today.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Thank you for your compassionate heart to us. You are the Good Shepherd who lay down your life for us. Help us to love you for who you are and for what you have done for us. Amen.

                                                                                                                   AM I A MISSIONARY?
Dear Friends.....Missions and Missionaries are inseparable. But the question that remains in our minds is who is a missionary?...In my quest to learn how to minister to children about missions and ministry, I came across a song in our Christian material resource room.

Tell me who a missionary is.

Tell me what a missionary does.

Tell me where a missionary goes

Tell me Tell me.

Missionaries Tell of Jesus Love,

Missionaries Tell of God above.

Telling those who never ever hard,

Jesus Love’s them.

Some are Doctors some can Fly a Plane

Some are Farmers grow a crop of grain,

Some are Learn other languages to be,

Preachers Teachers

I can help a missionary Friend. I can help with money that l send,

I can write them l can pray for them I can I can.

There is a big lesson we learn from this simple song and from the scriptures.

GOD DID HIS WORK FOR US

We know, the reason God sent Jesus to earth and die on the cross and rise from the dead was to save the world from sin. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrated his love for us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. 1corinthians 5:15 says’ and he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

JESUS KNEW AND DID HIS WORK

Jesus came to do the will of the Father, ‘’ My food,’’Said Jesus, ‘’ Is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say ‘Four months more and then the harvest? I tell you open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reappear draws his wages; even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work and you have reaped the benefits of their labor’’. John 4:34-38. The scripture has explained itself. There is work to do and the harvest is ripe. The question is do you see it? Do you know where? Do you hear the call?

HE CALLED THE DISCIPLES AND SENT THEM

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them the power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. V6. So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the Gospel and healing people everywhere.  Luke 9:1-2 and v6....When you look around in your community today what do you think are the needs of people today?...What is it that you can do?

WHAT IS OUR ASSIGNMENT FROM GOD?

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created  in Christ Jesus to do good works that God prepared in advance for us to do.

Dear friends, In your own way and my own way we can jointly reach out to share the Gospel of Christ in various ways. ...When Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake for they were fishermen. ‘’Come, follow me ‘’ Jesus Said, and l will make you fishers of men’’. At once they left their nets and followed him....Jesus is calling you come and I will make you fisher of men.

DO YOU KNOW ANY OF THESE?

Anyone who needs awakening revelation as my CIS partner and co- worker of the Gospel calls it....Anyone who have not heard the Gospel?....Anyone who needs prayer....Anyone child who needs care and love?....Anyone who needs a visit?....Anyone who needs an encouragement?...Anyone who needs food, clothing or shelter?....The list goes on and on.

Just remember to be a missionary you do not have to move, or leave your job or family. You can share the love of Jesus where you are, or far and wide, the harvest is ripe ready for harvest. Are you ready and willing to do your part?
